Spring Hill Tax Increase Voted Down

Screwed taxmanThe Spring Hill Mayor and Board of Aldermen voted to not increase property taxes this year. The Mayor, Michael Dinwiddie has recommended a 20 percent increase over the current tax. It is encouraging that the aldermen used better judgement and decided that increasing the tax burden on the residents during a recession wasn't something that the public wanted.

The current city property tax for Spring Hill equates to $150 per year for every $100,000 of property value, even though they make it look very complicated with the computations they use.

For many years Spring Hill didn't have a city tax, and depended on fees charged to home builders to fund the city government. Now with new home construction moving at a very slow pace, the city has started to charge a tax to home owners. I think that reducing the size of the city government  would be a better plan, and I'm sure that most of the public would endorse any candidate who supports the idea of smaller government.

Just my rant of the day

New Schools in Spring Hill TN

Spring hill HomeNew Schools in Spring Hill TN has lately been one of my most recent questions.  On the Williamson county side the following schools are schedule to open soon.

  • Allendale in the new elementary school, and will open in the fall of 2010
  • Spring Station is the new middle school, also planned for opening in fall of 2010
  • The new high school is not named yet, and it will open in the fall of 2011.

Allendale is located just west of Benevento and Spring Hill place. The new high school and Spring Station are located just north of Wades Grove subdivision on Buckner Ln.  To check for zoning, visit the Williamson county Schools website here.

So for the home owners on the east side of Spring Hill in Williamson county, the overcrowding in Chapmans retreat should be solved next fall.

New Home Construction Steps

Nashville real estate - Here are a few pictures of one of my listings being built in Spring hill. As you can see, a lot of steps are involved, and all need to be monitored closely. If at any point, the contractors make a mistake, It needs to be correected immediately.

The Spring Hill Ham Festival

Every October, The Spring Hill Jam Festival is heldl on the grounds of the Tennessee childrens home with arts, crafts, food, food, and more food. The local Corvette club brings out the boy toys, and the Rotary Club brings out a small train for the little guys. The pig races are different, and fun for the kids. By the way, the weather was a perfect 75 degrees, and low humidity. It was a great day to be outside.

Spring Hill Golf - Kings Creek

The 18-hole "King's Creek" course at the King's Creek Golf Club facility in Spring Hill, Tennessee features 6,807 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 70. The course rating is 72.6 and it has a slope rating of 129 on Bermuda grass.  Designed by Arnold Palmer/Ed Seay, ASGCA, the King's Creek golf course opened in 2005.  Ok so much for the basic news, here is the real story, this couse is tough. The creek seems to be in play on almost every hole. And the par 3's all seem to be surrounded by the menacing little body of water.  It's not a long couse, but almost every par 4 and 5 is a dog leg, so it doesn't usually help to hit the ball a long way. This is a precision golf couse, and really punishes wild shots. I especially hate the uncut rough that looks like is came from st Andrews.
